MADINAH, 19 January 2007 — Police responding to calls from people who said they witnessed a kidnapping, turned up a father and his incontinent seven-year-old son, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. After being stopped by police, the father explained that he had just gotten the upholstery of his car cleaned and was afraid that his young boy, who had a habit of urinating at inopportune moments, would soil his newly cleaned car. So he put the kid in the trunk of the car. As you can imagine, people seeing an older man lifting a young boy into the trunk of a vehicle became concerned enough to call the police. Police let the father off with a warning that he shouldn’t treat his son like an object to be stored away in a potentially dangerous place. Perhaps he should consider diapers or an extended regimen of potty training.
