RIYADH, 14 February 2007 — The first Nepali product was launched here on Monday as a further sign of broadening relations between the two countries.
The new crisp Wai Wai noodles of Chaudhary Group, one of the biggest conglomerates of Nepal, is an indication that Kathmandu is no longer willing to limit its relations with Riyadh in manpower sector alone. “And that’s proven by Chaudhary Group which has entered into a deal with the Riyadh-based Savana Corporation,” said Praksh Kumar Suvedi, charge d’affaires at the Nepalese embassy. Prakash was speaking during the launching ceremony, which was also attended by Mohammed Mukhlif Al-Subaei, chairman of the Universal Mymoon Group (UMG), which owns and operates Savana.
Referring to the progressively growing relations between Saudi Arabia and Nepal, Prakash said “the chambers of commerce of the two countries are working on a draft proposal which will eventually lead to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost business ties.”
“Wai Wai is extremely popular in the northeast regions of Indian subcontinent, where we have been present for the last 18 years, and we are now looking at an all-India presence,” Dipendra K. Bhatta, deputy general manager of Chaudhary Group, said.
