JEDDAH, 16 February 2007 — Samsung Electronics launched yesterday in the Saudi market what is regarded as a breakthrough in the liquid crystal display television range.
Moon Seok Chang, managing director of Samsung’s Jeddah-based Middle East and Africa headquarters, told a press conference at the Hilton Hotel yesterday during the unveiling of the revolutionary product that “Samsung’s new family of premium LCD TVs offers a breakthrough technology that gives a picture quality yet to be experienced.”
“With features like the finest HD resolution possible and a wider range between light and dark colors, every image gives you crisper colors, more vivid contrast and sharper moving images than you’ve ever seen before,” he said. “The new range features pure elegance, comprehensive technology and sophisticated design,” he pointed out.
According to Chang, Samsung has carved out a niche for itself in the world of digital technology and consumer electronics. “We are now well into the next phase of our growth and development.” Jeddah-based United Matbouli Group (UMG) first imported a few household appliances and electronic products.
Today, it imports all high technology appliances that suites consumer needs kingdom-wide.
“We believe that the powerful LCD TVs being newly launched will set a new trend this year and help heading toward achieving the leadership position in the Kingdom’s LCD market. We are well set to spearhead a revolution in the LCD TV sector,” Adnan Matbouli, presdient and CEO, UMG, sole distributor of Samsung Electronics in Saudi Arabia, said.
With the introduction of full HD F71 series, Samsung will bolster its line up of LCD TVs in the Saudi market. The launch complements the already available line up of R71 and S71 series of high definition LCD TVs, Mohammed Asad Ali, senior product manager at UMG-Samsung, said in his presentation.
Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969 as Samsung Electric Industries, initially manufactured electronic appliances such as color TVs, calculators, refrigerators, airconditioners and washers.
