DAMMAM, 17 February 2007 — The Indian community in the eastern city of Al-Ahsa has called upon the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to provide consular services once every two months, instead of every three months.
“We have sent four letters to the embassy requesting it to reschedule consular visits to the city by every two months,” P.P. Aliyar, a community leader in Al-Ahsa, told Arab News.
There are about 200,000 Indians working in 74 villages in Al-Ahsa region, the majority of them laborers and housemaids drawing a monthly salary of less than SR600.
