DHAKA, 17 February 2007 — Bangladeshi security forces seized arms and ammunition following a raid on a hide-out of terrorists located in the deep forest in Khagrachhari yesterday.

Security sources said troops raided Radhatila area in the morning and seized the arms. No arrests were made.

The seized arms included three pistols, one rifle, two SBBL guns, one light gun and a huge amount of ammunition.

Earlier, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized one AK-81 rifle, the latest version of AK-47, and 600 rounds of bullet from Khagrachhari, Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong in raids lasting several hours.

A spokesman for RAB said in Dhaka that acting on a tip-off, the elite security force conducted raids at Dighinala in Khagrachhari district and seized the AK-81 rifle.

But they failed to arrest anyone as the arms smugglers had fled.
