JEDDAH, 22 February 2007 — Police in the Makkah region have taken to stopping groups of youths who are hanging out past midnight, and they say this strategy is helping take a bite out of crime. Local newspapers reported yesterday that police have been able to track down suspects in various theft crimes by trawling the streets at night profiling young adults.
