JEDDAH, 28 February 2007 — Saudi Arabian Airlines is taking steps to privatize nine subsidiary companies, its Director General Khaled Al-Mulhim said at the Jeddah Economic Forum yesterday.
The airline is also considering internal restructuring and methods to deal with the results of privatization and competition from upstart national carriers.
It is looking for strategic partners that would contribute with more value to its services, he added. ‘Privatization: The Indispensable Tool’ was the theme of the session that marked the conclusion of the JEF 2007.
He assured his support toward choosing business deals and contracts in order to work with complete transparency.
He noted that the Kingdom had specified a clear image of its aim toward privatization in order to expand employment chances, developing quality of services and reducing expenditures.
