RIYADH, 3 March 2007 — Minister of Health Dr. Hamad Al-Manie will attend today the graduation ceremony of 19 Saudi health care specialists, six of them women.
“These specialists will be graduated from the Ministry of Health’s in-house special program with a master’s degree in public health with a focus in quality management. The program was established in Riyadh by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the University of Oklahoma in the US,” a source at the ministry said.
“It is hoped that these graduates will play an instrumental role in the activities that are under way at the ministry’s facilities Kingdomwide,” he said.
“The reason behind the ministry’s collaboration with the University of Oklahoma in establishing this program is the pursuit of state-of-art knowledge,” he said.
The University of Oklahoma runs a large medical center in Oklahoma City that allows medical practitioners and administrators to work with the latest medical technology in applied practice.
Dr. Assaf Al-Assaf, the associate dean of the University of Oklahoma’s College of Public Health, will attend the graduation ceremony. He is a leading US expert of Arab origin working in health care quality management.
