ABHA, 9 March 2007 — Indian Ambassador M.O.H. Farooq Maraikayar visited Asir region to meet the Indian community recently. He was accompanied by Cyril Tigga, consul community welfare, at Indian consulate in Jeddah. A colorful program was arranged by the Indian community to welcome Farooq.
The ambassador was appraised of the problems faced by Indians and he was urged to help them solved.
Addressing the community, Farooq said his aim was to meet the community personally and to listen and solve the problems. But he sought community’s cooperation in these efforts. He expected Indians to unite and help each others. He also advised them to consider Saudi Arabia as their second home and follow the rules.
Tigga highlighted the Indian consulate’s efforts to solve community problems. Regarding the problem of medical assistance, he informed about the proposal of consul general to conduct medical camps to help the community in the region.
While talking to Arab News, Farooq said that he sees big potential in the southern region and was impressed by the rich culture here. India and Saudi Arabia have good business relations and lots of investment has been made on both sides, he stressed. On cooperation in the educational field, he informed that a huge progress has been made.
