JEDDAH, 14 March 2007 — Muhammad Abdul Latif Jameel, chairman of the Abdul Latif Jameel Group, opened recently a research and development department for automobile accessories at ALJ’s automobile accessories division in Al-Khomra, a first in the Arab world. Muhammad Jameel also opened an exhibition of the latest accessories developed at the company’s Al-Khomra facilities in Jeddah.
Toyota signed a cooperation agreement with ALJ to develop accessories that met the specifications stipulated by the car manufacturer in 2003. ALJ received last year the right to use Toyota trademark on accessories and distribute them to all Toyota distributors worldwide.
The company also won recently international certifications ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environment and 18001 for occupational safety and health, a company statement said.
