RIYADH, 21 March 2007 — Police detained here a suspected heroin dealer of unspecified Asian nationality in the Al-Morooj neighborhood, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. Police said they stopped the suspect because he ran as they were approaching him. The authorities reported that the man was carrying with him 28 grams of the narcotic, which he tried to pass off as salt when police questioned him. He confessed after further questioning, saying he was delivering the drug to a customer in the area.
Maid Kills Elderly Employer, Flees
MAKKAH, 21 March 2007 — An Indonesian woman has been arrested and charged with murdering the 80-year-old patriarch of the Saudi family for which she worked, newspapers reported yesterday. The 29-year-old maid allegedly killed the man in his sleep with a blow to the head while the rest of the family was out. According to the police, the woman, who was working illegally for the family, had got into a fight with her employers and killed the man because of the dispute. She then fled the house and was found a number of days later hiding out at her sister’s home in the city.
Man Charged With Illegal Car Biz
JEDDAH, 21 March 2007 — A man here was arrested for buying cars on installment and shipping them illegally to neighboring countries to sell, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. The man was using forged documents to buy the cars under a false identity and ship them abroad. The suspect was arrested as he was trying to make his next purchase.
