JEDDAH, 25 March 2007 — Four participants of the Jeddah Science Club have won awards in a nationwide scientific-innovation contest that was held recently in Baha region. The contest included 111 inventions.
Prince Faisal ibn Muhammad, deputy governor of Baha, gave away the awards to Saleh Al-Ghamdi, director of the Jeddah Science Club.
Al-Ghamdi said Wael Al-Ghamdi of Jeddah’s Dar Al-Fikr high school won the award for his math project.
The second award went to Ammar ibn Siddiq from Arafat high school for his theory on the relation between sports and mathematics. Mohammed Al-Jilani and Aboubakr Al-Habashi from Al-Falah high school got the third and fourth awards for their work in an electronic prayer rug, he said.
Al-Ghamdi said that the Jeddah Science Club’s goals were achieved with the success of the students in the contest. He added that the club aims to develop the scientific and innovation spirit in the students of Jeddah.
