On the auspicious occasion of 36th Anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, I extend my earnest felicitations to the brotherly people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the expatriate Bangladeshis.

Achievement of liberation is the most glorious episode in the history of Bangladesh, for which millions had to make the supreme sacrifice of martyrdom during a nine-month armed struggle. I pay tributes to the martyrs, valiant freedom fighters and visionary leaders, who had mooted the idea of freedom and relentlessly worked for the country.

Significance of Saudi Arabia in the global arena is paramount. As it is the cradle of Islam and the site of the Two Holy Mosques, the Kingdom is naturally gifted with leading attribute of the Muslim Ummah. Added to it, is the wise and articulate leadership of the majestic family of Al-Saud, which has crowned with amazing successes in steering not only the Kingdom but also the Ummah. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Abdullah ibn Abdul Aziz has indoctrinated a new vision and exuberance in the nation toward multipronged development and ascertained his highest standing of prominence in the comity of nations.

Bangladesh genuinely values the Saudi leadership. Based on the existing deep-rooted relation emanating from shared values at bilateral and multilateral levels, Bangladesh is committed to further bolstering the bonds of relations with the Kingdom in all possible areas of mutual interest.

I seize this opportunity to express gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for providing facilities and services to the Bangladeshi pilgrims, employing a significant number of its nationals, and extending valuable support and cooperation to the consulate in discharging its duties.

I also appreciate the sustained backing of Bangladeshi expatriates to the Consulate General for its smooth functioning. And on this august day, I join them to renew my commitment to work collectively to accomplish the dreams of the freedom fighters.

I do pray to Allah the Almighty for the salvation of the departed souls of martyrs and continued peace, prosperity and happiness of our two peoples. May Allah bless Saudi-Bangladesh brotherhood.

Muhammad Ali Akbar

Consul General of Bangladesh
