DAMMAM, 5 April 2007 — Postal officials from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries discussed recently the final details of establishing a delivery company for the GCC postal system. The company would facilitate package delivery among the different postal systems of the six GCC member states. Among the issues discussed in the meet, which brought together the heads of the postal systems, is providing expedited postal delivery throughout the region. Mohammed Bantan, the president of Saudi Post, said that they discussed several issues in relation to post services such as who would be in charge of managing a regional postal system, finance issues, getting the needed equipment and studying standardizations. Another meeting is scheduled to take place on Nov. 14.
