RIYADH, 8 April 2007 — Forty-one Bangladeshi nationals were arrested after a raid on two properties that were being used as chop shops to disassemble stolen cars and sell their parts on the black market, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. Working on a tip from a unspecified number of Bengalis detained earlier, police raided the two properties in the capital city. Eleven of the men were arrested at one property while the others were rounded up at the second location.
Young Saudi Girl Goes Missing
RIYADH, 8 April 2007 — A four-year-old Saudi girl has gone missing in Saad village on the Riyadh-Dammam highway, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. The child’s father, a Qur’an teacher, said that the girl went missing after the evening Isha prayer. “We then called the police,” said Muhammad Sager, the father of the girl. “Our neighbors also helped, but we could not find her.” Residents complained that there are a lot of illegal immigrants in Saad and that there isn’t enough public lighting.

RIYADH, 8 April 2007 — A court in Riyadh sentenced various people for crimes, the daily Al-Riyadh reported yesterday. A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years and 1,500 lashes for engaging in a homosexual relationship with a young boy. Another man, 25, got six years and 80 lashes for car theft. Another 25-year-old got six years and 1,500 lashes for stealing. A maid received five years and 1,000 lashes for performing “magic” to get her sponsor to divorce his wife.
Woman Dies After Eating Snack
JEDDAH, 8 April 2007 — A Sri Lankan janitor at King Fahd Hospital died of food poisoning after eating a snack with her two colleagues, local media reported yesterday. The other two women were hospitalized. One of the women has been cleared while the other is expected to recover. No other details were provided except that an investigation is ongoing.
