BAHA, 17 January 2008 — Five teachers, all of them women, and their driver were seriously injured in a van accident on Tuesday morning, due to rain and fog in Bahah.
The accident occurred in front of the driving school at Bahah-Al-Akik Road. The teachers were going to their school in the early morning, when their van slid in the rain.
The driver couldn’t control the van due to his excess speed.
The victims were transferred to King Fahd hospital in Bahah and Al-Akik hospital through Civil Defense and the Red Crescent officials.
Their condition was described to be stable.
Reports of teachers dying in groups in road accidents are fairly common, due to the need to transport women in buses on highways, to deliver them to their day jobs at outlying schools far from their homes.
