BAHA, 17 January 2008 — The families of three municipal workers who were gunned down six months ago by a colleague armed with a Kalashnikov at Baljurashi Municipality have called for the murderer’s execution.

Walid Qadum killed colleagues Ali Aziz Al-Ghamdi, Muhammad Saleh Al-Ghamdi and Saeed Saraah Al-Ghamdi at work because he suspected that one of his colleagues had an affair with his wife.

Eyewitnesses said that Qadum had arrived at the municipality office furious and in a hysterical state. He tried shooting more workers, but an employee wrestled with him and directed the nozzle of the gun away until he ran out of bullets. Police arrested him a short while later at the scene of the crime.

Qadum divorced his wife two months before the incident. The couple have a daughter from the marriage.
