RIYADH, 17 January 2008 — The King Abdul Aziz City of Science and Technology (KACST) yesterday signed an agreement with Lotus Engineering to build the technological basis for car manufacturing in the Kingdom. Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel, president of KACST, signed the agreement with Mike Kimberley, the CEO of Lotus Cars. “According to the agreement, Lotus will contribute through its mother company Proton to achieving KACST’s long-term strategy of establishing a research center and develop manufacturing infrastructure in the Kingdom,” the Saudi Press Agency said quoting an official statement. Sauwaiyel said his organization was determined to possess capabilities for designing and developing cars within a decade.
Saudia Logs 29% Rise in Revenue

JEDDAH — Saudi Arabian Airlines’ European sector yesterday announced that it posted a revenue of SR800 million last year, 29 percent more than that of the previous year. Abdullah Al-Husseini, general manager for passenger services and sales for the European sector, said the airline had carried more than 300,000 passengers in 2007.
