MADINAH, 21 January 2008 — A bus carrying 44 Pakistani pilgrims overturned 177 km from Madinah, killing one passenger and injuring 12. The dead passenger was identified as Azizah Allahdad. The injured pilgrims were taken to the nearby Hemna Hospital, said Adel Sharaf, spokesman of the health affairs department in Madinah. Four passengers in serious condition were later transferred to King Fahd Hospital in Madinah. The accident occurred as a result of a blowout.

RIYADH, 21 January 2008 — A meeting of the general body of the Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association (JMIAA), Riyadh Chapter on Friday endorsed the names of its new officials. They include Shamshuddin Shams as patron, Mohammad Muneeb as president, Aftab Nizami as vice president, Zafar-ul Islam Abdul Bari as general secretary, Shabbir Ahmad as joint secretary and Atiqur Rahman and Athar Azmi as treasurers.
