ISLAMABAD, 22 January 2008 — An intelligence officer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Charsaddah on Sunday morning.
Police said Nisar Khan, a director of Intelligence Bureau, was returning home after offering Fajr prayer at a local mosque when two gunmen riding a motorcycle riddled him with bullets. Nisar Khan was declared dead by doctors at a local hospital when he was brought there.
Police briefly detained the imam of the local mosque but freed him after questioning.
Charsaddah has become a hotbed of terrorists in recent months. Several national politicians hail from this town. Former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan was twice attacked by suicide bombers in Charsaddah.
