DAMMAM, 26 January 2008 — The much-awaited Foundation Day of the International Indian School, Dammam is in doubt as the academic year is almost over with only less than two months left for the annual examinations to begin. This is the silver jubilee year of the school, which is the largest in the region with over 14,000 students and 600 teachers on its rolls.
The school usually holds its Foundation Day in October but due to Ramadan this year it was scheduled for November. However, the event was canceled at the last minute.
The Foundation Day is a dream event for many parents and students who perform well in exams and co-curricular activities. Many students doing higher courses in India came to the Kingdom specifically to attend the function where they are presented with awards and certificates, but were disappointed.
The chairman of the school’s managing committee said that the committee had sought permission from local authorities to hold the event and a decision was awaited. Parents and teachers said the school could organize the day during school hours if the management were unable to obtain permission to hold the event.
