MANAMA — The use of technology would have a profound impact on the growth and development of the financial sector globally, including in Bahrain, a senior Central Bank official said yesterday.

At the opening of the 4th annual Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition and Conference opened at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, Rasheed M. Al-Maraj, governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, said that technology has had played an important role in the global financial and banking business.

He said that the technology would continue to serve as a cornerstone of the future strategies aimed at an effective business model for any business.

More than 150 financial technology companies are attending. This year’s show is 25 percent larger than last year’s event.
