RIYADH, 27 February 2008 — Saudi Arabia together with several Arab countries will participate in a high-profile international conference to be hosted by Germany to find out solution for the depleting water resources in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The event will be organized on the sidelines of the International Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Reuse and Recycling (IFAT), to be held in Munich May 5-9. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Eugen Egetenmeir, deputy managing director of Messe Munchen International (Munich Trade Fairs International Company), said here yesterday that IFAT is the most important environmental trade fair in the world.
“In 2008, more than 25,000 exhibitors from across the world including the Arab countries will set up their stalls in an exhibition area covering 192,000 square meters,” he said.
The media briefing at the local office of the German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) was also attended by Gerd M. Doepner, the Riyadh-based delegate of the German Industry and Commerce; Abdulaziz V. Valappil, head of GESALO’s trade fair department; and Omar Hassan Hamza, head of Gesalo’s legal department.
