DUBAI, 7 March 2008 — Celine Dion’s Live in Dubai concert, her first performance in the Middle East, attracted over 12,000 fans who swayed and sung along as the Canadian diva performed some of her most famous songs.

Dion warmed up with hits “I drove all night” and “Power of Love” before launching into her latest hit “Taking Chances.”

She also spoke about her three-day experience in Dubai.

“I’ve been in Dubai for three days and now I know what people all over the world are talking about. Dubai’s the place to be. It’s the future city,” Dion said.

Dion ended her performance shouting “shukran” out to all her Arab fans, who were ecstatic to hear the diva speak in their native language.

Royalty and celebrities adorned the VIP lounge. The wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Princess Haya, was spotted with an entourage of girlfriends, while Roger Federer, visiting Dubai for the Dubai Tennis Championship, chose to keep his presence more low key as he enjoyed the concert.
