RIYADH, 16 April 2008 — Aramco Gulf Operations Company has won the Diamond Prize of the Prince Naif Award for Saudization, Deputy Labor Minister Dr. Abdul Wahid Al-Humaid announced yesterday.
Speaking to reporters, he said the award would encourage private companies to train and employ more Saudi men and women. “Nationalization of jobs is one the Kingdom’s strategies,” he added. Al-Humaid said 24 private companies in 11 sectors would be honored this year in appreciation of their efforts in providing more jobs for Saudis. “They will be given gold, silver and bronze prizes considering the points they have won.”
Nominations for the prize are made through the chambers of commerce and industry in different cities. The award committee gives points to each participating company in accordance with their performance.
Al-Humaid said the National Employment Center in Riyadh would soon extend its services to Saudi jobseekers to help them get employed in the private sector. The center will also train jobseekers to meet job market requirements.
