JEDDAH, 17 April 2008 - A group of Class XII girl students of International Indian School, Jeddah have won the applause of teachers and parents for publishing an informative magazine named Vision Exclusive. IISJ Principal M.S. Rahman commended the girls for their creative work and hoped other students would follow the example.
Hiba Ashraf and Muhsina Abdul Ghafour, chief editors of the magazine, said they initiated the project in order to promote writing and journalism skills of students. The 10-member team has already brought out two copies of the magazine. The latest one includes an interview with the principal and articles on career planning, mass communication and hijab and tips for health.
"We are very happy for being able to bring out two issues of the magazine and hope our younger friends would carry the torch forward," said Hiba. "It was a wonderful experience and hope it would help us in our future career," added Muhsina. Other members of the team who envisioned the magazine are: Shaima Abdullah, Asma Habeeb, Abrar Ahmed, Sheba Mary Mathew, Saman Javid, Lauria Rehman, Kausar Azam, and Raheena Abdurehim.
Sabitha Rahim, an English teacher at the school and the magazine's adviser, was all praise of the girls for their innovative ideas and commitment. "I believe that it's their innate talent and immeasurable enthusiasm that made them reach the finishing line successfully. I am proud of them."
The girls have printed 1,000 copies of the 28-page second edition with the support of local advertisers. They said the money received from sales would be used to support charitable activities.
