RIYADH, 28 April 2008 — Interior Minister Prince Naif announced yesterday that his ministry had signed an agreement to purchase 30 helicopters for the use of different security agencies. He said the new helicopters have started arriving in the Kingdom.
Speaking to reporters after attending a graduation ceremony at the Public Security Training City in Riyadh, Prince Naif said Saudi Arabia was applying advanced technology along its borders to prevent smuggling and infiltration.
As many as 3,123 officers graduated during the ceremony after attending 19 security training courses. Prince Naif distributed certificates to outstanding graduates. He also opened a security exhibition staged on the sidelines of the convocation.
Prince Muhammad ibn Naif, assistant interior minister for security affairs, and Lt. Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director of public security, attended the ceremony.
