JEDDAH, 29 April 2008 — "Edu-Ware Jeddah 2008," an educational awareness program, organized here recently by Vaayanakkoottam in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), attracted a large number of students and parents. K.C. Abdul Rahman, convener of Vaayanakkoottam, gave a presentation on courses available for different groups including laborers, executives, self-employed, businessmen and managers. He elaborated on the supply chain courses such as CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), CSCP (Certified in Supply Chain Professional) and Customer Service Excellence.
Linu Cherian and Sabitha Raheem from IGNOU took the participants through the details of courses offered by the university's branch in the Kingdom. "It was news for many that people who have not completed their secondary education can go for IGNOU's Bachelor of Preparatory Program (BPP), which will enable them to enroll for degree or diploma courses," said Riaz Mulla, director of IGNOU Saudi Arabia.
Guest of honor M.S. Rahman, principal of International Indian School Jeddah, commended Vaayanakkoottam and IGNOU for their efforts in creating educational awareness among Indian parents. Usman Irumpuzhi welcomed the guests and M. Ismail of King Abdulaziz University gave motivational speech, highlighting the importance of lifelong education.
