MAKKAH, 7 May 2008 — When an ATM at a local bank “swallowed” a Saudi man’s debit card as he was attempting to withdraw money, the man threw a fit. Instead of calling bank authorities and notifying them of the problem, the angry man went to his car and parked it in front of the bank’s entrance preventing anyone from entering the premises, the Okaz daily reported yesterday. He then wrote a sign and placed it in front of the bank. The sign warned people from dealing with the bank and said he would not remove his car until the bank returned his debit card. Customers reported the man and his illegally parked car to the police. A traffic policeman eventually showed up to the scene and wrote the man a traffic citation and had his car towed. The report did not mention what became of the man’s debit card.
