RIYADH, 24 May 2008 — The Salah Al-Hujailan Law Firm and British law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer will sign an agreement of strategic alliance for mutual cooperation and legal consultancy in Riyadh tomorrow.
The tie-up will ensure increased cooperation between the two firms in lawsuits and arbitration both inside and outside the Kingdom.
Freshfields, one of the leading international law firms, was established in 1752. Bob Charlton, a Freshfields partner, has already been collaborating with Fares Al-Hujailan, the youngest son of lawyer Salah Al-Hujailan. The existing cooperation will be reinforced with the formal signing of the strategic partnership between the two law firms, Salah Al-Hujailan said.
“This association demonstrates the strong and enduring relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom as well as the cooperation of many years between Freshfields and my firm,” Salah Al-Hujailan added.
Salah Al-Hujailan, established in 1968, was the first law firm launched in the Kingdom. It also has the lead position in making tie-ups with international law firms. Thirty-two legal experts work in its Riyadh and Jeddah offices, a press statement said yesterday.
“Freshfields’ association with my son Fares and the alliance with my firm prove the strong bonds of relationship and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Britain.” Freshfields regional managing partner Joseph Huse said: “The prevailing business conditions in Saudi Arabia make this the perfect time for us to take this important step.”
