RIYADH, 26 May 2008 — The Salah Al-Hujailan Law Firm hosted a reception in Riyadh yesterday to celebrate the signing of an agreement of strategic alliance for mutual cooperation and legal consultancy with the British law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Besides members of the local business community, British Ambassador William Patey, Bob Charlton, a Freshfields partner, its regional managing partner Joseph Huse and other officials were present at the colorful evening held at the Crystal Hall of Faisaliah Hotel.
“The tie-up will ensure increased cooperation between the two firms in lawsuits and arbitration both within and outside the Kingdom,” Fares Al-Hujailan told Arab News, adding that the key areas of cooperation will also include corporate finance, capital market and infrastructure work which will open up due to the emerging economic cities in the Kingdom. The new agreements will strengthen the existing cooperation between the two companies, Al-Hujailan said.
“The new cooperation between the two law firms signifies the deepening of the bilateral relations between the two countries,” Ambassador Patey said, noting that the Kingdom has opened up its business to attract international companies. After joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), it is a welcome step, he added.
