THANE, 4 June 2008 — A low-intensity blast at Gadkari auditorium here yesterday evening injured four people. Police were trying to determine the cause of the explosion in the parking area of the auditorium.
A senior police official said a bag containing explosives was placed on a bicycle that went off causing damage to the parking area.
Kishora Surve, a wireman, Nilesh Dalvi, a clerk, Anil Sapkal, security guard and Mukesh Mhatre, all employees of the auditorium were injured in the blast.
Dalvi said he was informed about a suspicious bag hanging on a bicycle. He and the three other employees were about to check the bag when it exploded.
Last week, Navi Mumbai police defused two crude bombs found in a plastic bag kept beneath a seat in the Bhave auditorium in Vashi area.
