The BMG Saudi Index reversed its performance again and moved up in yesterday’s session by 0.9 percent to close at 539.3 points. The market turnover also took a turn around with regard to its performance registering a 19.2 percent increase to reach SR5.1 billion ($1.4 billion) versus SR4.3 billion ($1.1 billion) on Sunday.
The industrial sector was the best performer for the second day in a row, advancing by 1.8 percent, while the other positive mover was the banking sector, which moved up by 0.6 percent. The electricity sector emerged as the worst performer, losing 1.9 percent, which was followed by the insurance sector which went down by 1.4 percent. Both the telecommunications and agricultural sectors declined by 0.9 percent, while the services sector deteriorated by 0.7 percent.
Nine shares ended the session seeing upward movements in their share price, whereas seven stood still and 14 depreciated. The best performer was Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co., rising by 6.3 percent and closing at SR59.25 per share. The leading shares closed registering higher closing prices, with Al-Rajhi Bank moving up by 0.6 percent to SR90.25 per share, and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) gaining 2.8 percent to reach a closing level of SR149.50 per share.
