JEDDAH, 11 June 2008 — Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal awarded a plaque to Magrabi Eye & Ear Hospital & Center for getting quality accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI). Mutasim Alireza, managing director, Magrabi Hospitals & Centers, received the award. The meeting held at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday was also attended by Health Minister Dr. Hamad Al-Manie. The hospital celebrated the achievement at Sheraton Hotel here last week.
“Magrabi’s evaluation report ranks among the very top of those hospitals that have achieved certification ever,” John Duffy, head of the Jeddah JCI survey team, said.
Dr. Akef A. Al-Magrabi, chairman of Magrabi Hospitals & Centers, said the JCI was the largest accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, surveying nearly 20,000 health care programs. “The JCI accreditation process is a comprehensive, reliable, and objective review,” he added.
The standards address important quality and safety issues, such as patient involvement in health care decisions, infection control and staff qualifications. Hospitals seeking JCI accreditation are evaluated through stringent procedures, approximately 300 standards that include onsite inspections and personnel examinations.
Mutasim Alireza said: “This accreditation is in line with our mission and highlights our strong commitment to provide our patients with the highest international standard of health care quality and patient safety.”
