MANILA: A supposedly routine liposuction procedure proved fatal for a returning overseas Filipino worker who died while undergoing operation at a Quezon City clinic on Monday night.
Radio DZBB reported yesterday that Mary Jane Arciaga, 29, died around 9 p.m. at Borough Medical Care Institute located at the sixth floor of Cyber One Building in Libis, Quezon City.
Police are investigating and have detained three doctors and two staff nurses who were involved in the three-hour operation.
Supt. Franklin Mabanag, head of the Quezon City police said they are looking into the possibility Arciaga died from an overdose of anesthesia.
He said Arciaga, who was based in Muntinlupa City, arrived only last week from Dubai, adding that she had a successful “tummy-tuck” operation at the same clinic last year.
