RIYADH: The International Public Relations Association, Gulf Chapter, will hold a forum entitled “Latest Global Trends in Media Communications” on July 2, featuring a distinguished list of speakers, according to a statement issued yesterday.

Among the list of speakers are Prince Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the board of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh; British Ambassador to the Kingdom William Patey; Chairman of Saudi Post Dr. Mohammed Saleh Benten; and Khalid Omar Al-Kaf, managing director and CEO of Mobily. The forum, sponsored by Mobily and organized by IPRA-GCC, has brought together the speakers to allow them to shed light on the newest trends in the mass media and communications spheres. The conference, to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, will tackle mass media communications through five distinct subject areas — political communication, electronic journalism, marketing communications and new media technologies. Toward the end of the forum, the audience will be presented with time to address speakers for expert opinion on their subject matter.

Noting the growing role played by public relations in developing the economy in the Kingdom and GCC states, Chairman of IPRA-GCC Faisal Al-Zahrani was quoted as saying that the goal of the conference was to give the audience a chance to see the latest trends in the mass media and communications world, and provide communications professionals with an opportunity to gather and exchange experiences.

Executive Vice President of the Central Region, Humoud Al-Ghobaini, said the forum was strongly supported by IPRA-GCC. Among the forum’s other distinguished speakers are: Sultan A. Al Bazie, PR Man of the year for 2005 for managing the Saudi municipal elections, Dr. Khaled Al-Firm, deputy editor in chief of Okaz newspaper, and Khalil Minawi, managing director, Impact BBDO Saudi Arabia.
