DAMMAM: A 20-year-old Saudi drowned in sea at the Alkhobar beach Thursday evening.
The accident occurred as the man and his two friends were swimming in an area notorious for strong undercurrents, according to Col. Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, spokesman for the border patrol in the Eastern Province.
The body of the deceased was found and his friends were rescued by border patrol agents.
“The three friends had strayed to the prohibited area ignoring warning signs posted by the authorities at the beach,” said Al-Ghamdi.
