ALKHOBAR: Zamil Air Conditioners, a unit of Zamil Industrial and a leading manufacturer of air conditioning systems in the Middle East, has won SR80 million ($21.4 million) deal from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to supply custom climate control systems.
As per the deal, signed last month, KAUST will get from Zamil before the end of this year a large number of concealed fan coil units, air-cooled condensing units, single skin air handling units, ducted split systems, approximately 3,000 sets of water chilled fan coil units and 21 sets of custom-built TW Series double skin air handling systems.
The deal is expected to have a positive impact on Zamil Air Conditioners’ consolidated financial statements and revenue for the fiscal fourth quarter 0f 2008. Competition for the contracts included the world’s best providers of air conditioning systems. Zamil emerged as the winner due to “unique ability to satisfy the most stringent climate control specifications and timeline requirements,” says a statement issued by the company.
The KAUST campus is located on the Red Sea at Thuwal, 80 kilometers north of Jeddah. The university was launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in October 2007. It is expected to help Saudi Arabia have a world-class independent scientific research center. To be ready by September 2009, SR10-billion KAUST will act as a scientific base as well as a driving force for the national economy.
