THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Forest Department plans to set up three biodiversity parks in the state at Chaliyam in Kozhikode, Nedumbassery in Kochi and Munnar in Kottayam and a Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary at Kakkayam in Kozhikode in the next three years, Forest Minister Binoy Viswam said.
“The first phase of the discussion on the biodiversity park in Nedumbassery is complete. It will come up on the land the Forest Department had received as compensation from the government for the land they had given to the Cochin International Airport,” he said. The second park is at Chaliyam in Kozhikode. The aim is to renovate the historical Chaliyam Timber Depot and expand it into a biodiversity park.
