ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights yesterday unanimously adopted a resolution asking the United States to permanently shut down the infamous Guantanamo Bay prison and release six Pakistani prisoners from there.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Sen. S.M. Zafar, here at Parliament House was also attended by the officials of Interior and Foreign Ministries.
The committee sought explanation from the concerned authorities on the detention of Pakistanis in the Guantanamo Bay prison and the Pakistani woman detained in Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base prison. Officials said that both US and Afghan officials had verbally denied the detention of any Pakistani woman at Bagram Air Base.
