RIYADH: Zain, the third mobile operator which will begin service in the Kingdom in the near future, has launched a 'special number' program for its customers. The special numbers are easy to memorize and can be specific date or number that is special to a subscriber.

"Zain's special number program, has been launched prior to the formal commissioning of its service to strengthen its relationship with its customers and get them familiar with the services offered by Zain," said Marwan Alahmadi, chief executive officer (CEO) of Zain in Saudi Arabia. He added that by subscribing to this service, the customers would become members of the "Special Numbers Club" where they would be offered a wide range of services and benefits that are exclusive to members.

"The benefits include free monthly talk time and free SMS messages," he said, pointing out that these are a few of the services that will be provided for Zain's special customers. The service is open to all including Saudis, expatriates and even visitors to the Kingdom, Alahmadi said, stressing that the company targets a large group of customers under this program.

The special numbers have been categorized under five groups namely Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Turquoise. Diamond numbers will be sold for SR100,000 each and it will give its customers 10,000 minutes talk time and 500 free SMS messages monthly. Emerald has been marked for SR50,000 with 5,000 minutes talk time and 500 free SMS messages, while Ruby numbers for SR10,000 with 1,000 minutes talk time and 100 free SMS messages. Sapphire and Turquoise are sold for SR5,000 and SR1,000 each respectively with 200 and 100 minutes talk time and 50 and 25 free SMS messages respectively. "We look forward to the launch of Zain in Saudi Arabia and are keen to offer our customers in the Kingdom the voice quality and innovative next-generation data communication services that they have come to expect from our networks throughout the region," Alahmadi said.

Recently Motorola signed a $335 million turnkey contract to deploy and manage a 2G/3G mobile communications network for Zain in Saudi Arabia.

Under the terms of the contract, Motorola will supply its GSM/HSxPA network solutions as well as comprehensive managed services for network design, integration, deployment, operations and maintenance.
