RIYADH: The Religious Affairs Ministry has prohibited individuals from distributing free iftar meals in mosques during the holy month of Ramadan unless previous permission from the ministry has been given, Al-Jazirah daily reported, quoting Tawfiq bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sudairy, undersecretary for mosque affairs, at the ministry.
“The measures are aimed at organizing the welfare work in a manner that will ensure its objective,” he said.
He cautioned the imams, muezzins and mosque servants against collecting donations for this purpose.
