JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia and Sudan discussed special economic integration and cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture at a meeting held at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) here Monday night.
Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz led the Sudanese delegation that met businessmen at the forum where the discussions were held. President of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of JCCI, Saleh Al-Turki, welcomed the delegation.
Al-Jaz said, after the meeting, that this visit aimed at reinforcing ties with the Kingdom and preparing a strategy to ensure food security while further expanding foreign investment in this sector. This would help in assessing the impact of the food crisis on the world during the past few months and address the challenges facing the two countries, especially the issue of food security. “The meeting discussed the strategic partnership being planned between the two countries by addressing the opportunities for cooperation in economic and trade fields, increasing the volume of trade exchange and investments, especially the feasibility of investments in Sudan,” Al-Jaz said. He said there was significant economic transformation in Sudan noting that it offers attractive investment opportunities in the region. “The land is suitable for agriculture and investment in this sector could reap benefits for all,” Al-Jaz said.
