RIYADH: Lufthansa has announced plans to double its capacity on its routes from Saudi Arabia to Germany from March 29 in sharp contrast to downward trends reported by many international travel and tourism players because of the global crisis.
The additional frequencies will allow Lufthansa to fly daily from Riyadh and Jeddah to its hub in Frankfurt with the beginning of the summer schedule. “Our confidence in the Saudi market is in an all-time high as evidenced by the increase in our operations, taking into account that there is a global economic slowdown,” said Rolf Koller, general manager for Lufthansa/SWISS for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, while addressing a press conference here yesterday.
“We are anticipating a healthy growth in air traffic demand between Saudi Arabia, Germany and Switzerland,” he said.
