AL-BAHA: A 90-year-old man announced that he has quit smoking after 80 years, according to yesterday’s Al-Madinah. After announcing the big news in a mosque, the man offered a lavish banquet in honor of his healthful decision. His family had been trying to convince the man to quit smoking for years. The man said he came to the decision after learning about the dangers of smoking from a national anti-smoking campaign. One might ask the question: Why bother quitting now? On the other hand, as an elder the man could be setting a good example to people who probably don’t have the lungs to survive eight decades of smoking.
