On the auspicious occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, I extend my warmest greetings and felicitations to my fellow countrymen living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On this memorable day, I join with millions of Bangladeshi in paying homage to the valiant freedom fighters who embraced martyrdom for our freedom. As a beneficiary of their supreme sacrifice, I pay my deep respect to the martyrs, heroic freedom fighters and visionary leaders who had resolutely pursued the idea of independence and worked relentlessly for the country.
As the third largest Muslim country of the world and home to 145 million people, Bangladesh enjoys special brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia based on common Islamic values and mutual respect. Bangladeshi expatriates working in Saudi Arabia have contributed immensely to the economy of Bangladesh as well as to the development process of the Kingdom.
Present visionary leadership of Saudi Arabia under Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has introduced new exuberance in the nation toward multi-dimensional development with a view to placing the Kingdom in the forefront of the comity of nations in terms of modern knowledge in science and technology. The establishment of several economic cities in the Kingdom will accelerate growth and will create employment opportunities for Saudi citizens and expatriates. Bangladesh is committed to remaining a strong partner in Saudi Arabia’s nation-building process.
On this auspicious day, I would like to express our deep gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for providing facilities and services to our Haj pilgrims, for employing a significant number of Bangladeshi nationals and for extending valuable support to the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah. I also acknowledge our wonderful expatriate community’s priceless support to the Consulate, and hope our concerted efforts will help Bangladesh face global challenges, thus realizing our freedom fighters’ dream of a prosperous Bangladesh.
Long live Saudi-Bangladeshi relations.
