Secure flash storage
MXI Security’s Stealth M550 is the world’s first USB secure storage device to feature Bluefly, a dedicated hardware security processor. The device provides hardware-based AES-256 CBC encryption and cannot be accessed unless it is unlocked by its legitimate owner. The flash drive features SafeShare technology, unique in the industry, which permits Stealth M550 users to collaborate using on-device data without sacrificing its safety. This is because up to 10 independently-secured users can be enabled on a single Stealth M550.

Deposit checks from home
New software from NCR Corporation called the NCR APTRA Consumer Passport, can be integrated with any financial institution’s online banking site and gives consumers the ability to deposit checks remotely, a service previously offered only to businesses.
While accessing an online banking account, consumers can conveniently deposit checks by using a flatbed scanner. Once the front and back of the endorsed check is scanned, the image and related data can then be sent electronically through online banking to the financial institution for validation, processing and clearing. For select clients, this remote deposit service could allow for same-day crediting to their accounts, quicker access to deposited funds and detailed deposit reports for improved record keeping.
Low-cost information displays
Samsung Electronics has begun mass producing a more economical line of digital information displays for indoor applications, where round-the-clock use isn’t needed. These new Basic Digital Information Displays (B-DID) will considerably widen the market for digital displays around the world.
The displays are designed to be mounted in either landscape or portrait configurations. The B-DIDs will be available from next month in 32-inch, 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch sizes and boast a contrast ratio between 3000:1 and 4000:1. The liquid crystal technology in the displays will be better than that used today for digital televisions making them more reliable for extended use.
Notebook or fashion accessory?
With its Adamo line, Dell is going after style-minded consumers. Adamo, whose name is derived from the Latin word meaning “to fall in love with,” is being billed as the world’s thinnest laptop. Dell claims that the Adamo line will feature design, craftsmanship and attention to detail inspired by fine Swiss watches.
Created from a chassis milled from a single piece of aluminum, featuring precision detailing and a scalloped backlit keyboard, Adamo will be available in Onyx or Pearl with a broad range of complementary accessories. Running on Intel Core 2 Duo processors, the laptop offers a 13.4-inch high definition edge-to-edge glass display and solid state drives. The PC is connected with WiFi, Bluetooth and optional integrated mobile broadband, plus 2 USB ports, 1 USB/eSATA combo port, Display Port and RJ-45 port.
Priced starting at $1999, Adamo is available online for purchase in 24 countries including India, Malaysia and the UAE – but Saudi Arabia is excluded. In the US, the Adamo can be purchased with Premium Service providing 24/7 access to Dell’s best trained technicians. Consumers in the rest of the world will have to be content with whatever service Dell decides to offer.
