JEDDAH: The Jeddah Summary Court sentenced a 37-year-old Arab expatriate to six years in jail and 1,500 lashes after he was accused of pimping his relatives, all of them women, to his friends.
The general Prosecution and Investigation Board submitted evidence to court that allegedly proves the man was extorting money from his relatives and was forcing them to give themselves up for sex to a number of his friends after he got paid from them. The court also listened to number of witnesses over this case before it gave the sentence.
This is an initial sentencing and it will be transferred to the court of cassation.
The accused, who authorities say has a previous criminal record involving liquor and theft, will appeal the decision within 30 days from sentencing.
