DUABI: Dubai Police have arrested a Tunisian gang suspected of specializing in robbing warehouses by parking a bus in front of the building they were breaking into to camouflage their crime.
Authorities identified the gang's leader as Lutfi Al-Hamarani, who had been arrested in 2007 for committing a similar crime. He was sentenced to six months in jail and deported after that. Al-Hamarani managed to illegally re-enter the UAE through a neighboring country.
The gang is accused of breaking into a warehouse and stealing five gold bars, a golden khanjar with an ivory handle and diamond set, along with other valuables. When the police arrived at the crime scene they found that the windows had been pulled out, which proved that the person who had committed the crime was very strong.
After a few days the investigators managed to arrest the four gang members, one of whom turned out to be a bodybuilder. One of them confessed to the police that he had been paid a DHS1,700 to rent the bus and park it in front of the warehouse even though the valuables stolen were worth DHS200,000.
