MANAMA: Authorities here confirmed the presence of a homemade bomb in a car explosion that claimed the life of a Bahraini on Thursday.
According to a forensic report, metal parts of various sizes used in explosives were found scattered near the body. “The device was a metal cylinder stuffed with explosives and flammable materials,” said an official.
Police launched an investigation following the explosion in the Al-Daih village in which a passenger was killed. The driver escaped with severe burns.
A special team of experts inspected the crime scene and found metal and plastic pieces, three batteries, a screwdriver and wires around the car.
Doctors treating the survivor said they extracted an Eveready battery from the man’s face as well as other metal parts. Authorities have sent specimens collected from the blast scene for testing.
